I dream of a global food family.

Hi I'm Madeline – family food lover, memory chef and the creator of @Memory.Kitchen

I come from a large Canadian prairie family - the kind with generations of kids, and family dinners with three dozen guests. We’re close, all of us. We cook and laugh, eat together and tell stories in the kitchen. It’s incredibly special.

I can’t call myself a chef in the traditional sense, even though I always thought I'd have made a pretty good one. I love the creativity, the history and the science of cooking. I love the way food can tell stories, create memories and remind us so profoundly of times gone by. But instead of a knife, I picked up a camera and that changed the way I see the world.

Now I make films about family, food and the connections between them. Memory Kitchen is about cooking with the people you love, but there's always more to it than the food - it’s the memory of your grandmother’s hands, your Dad’s bad jokes, your Mom's secret ingredients, and the stories and tales that get told around the table. I capture these moments in my home and want you to do the same. My wish is that you too will have a living legacy for your family to pass down for generations, so your kids, and theirs, will have a sense of who came before them.

I want to build a global food community who cares as much as I do about preserving stories, memories and the sights, sounds (and smells) of home.

Background

As a video specialist, commercial director and lifestyle blogger, I meet and tell people’s stories. While some people write or paint, I use video as my tool and always have. With a decade of documentary-style storytelling under my belt, it is my life's mission to make sure no one pulls their device from their pocket one day and says "I wish I would have used this to capture them while I had the chance.”
