Make meaningful memories instead!
For many of us around the world, the last few weeks have been pretty unusual. Closed schools, self quarantine, working from home, crazy kids, cooking at home, maybe even boredom.
It’s been a little over a week since I left Canada and flew back to the UAE (several days before I was supposed to) in fear of the borders closing (which happened). It was a heavy and uneasy feeling leaving my family, friends, and the maple leaf tailed airplanes behind in a time of such uncertainty and fear. Even though I’m here, safe, with plenty of groceries (and toilet paper) I’m not “at home” and now, I just feel helpless. I think we all do.
On the flip side, there is one thing in all of this that excites me to my core.
For many, this is an opportunity like no other to spend time at home with family. We’re talking real, quality time that isn’t part of Christmas or some other holiday.
This, friends, is a huge gift.
I know we’re all anxious, glued to our phones and using technology for good by connecting with friends across town or across the globe but I want to encourage you to use your technology for good in another way - to make meaningful memories that you will cherish forever while you have this unique and special time together at home.
We grow eager to freeze time when we realize people and parts of every day life won’t remain the same for long. We’re seeing this around the world - and people’s world’s are changing by the hour.
If you have something special to your family that you don’t want to forget, that you don’t want to loose why wouldn’t you try your best to capture it while you still can?
It’s time to turn your hours of scrolling through news headlines and social media feeds into something you’re proud of, something productive and something future generations can look at.
I’ve been harping on this whole filming your family food thing for a while now - and I get it — It takes time and effort, sometimes you or Grandma doesn’t want to be on camera, and maybe you don’t know how to video edit.
But I have a guarantee for you.
You will not regret filming
something special of your family during this time.
Not today, not next week, not ever.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. In fact, the more rustic the better in my opinion - because whatever your create, it will be perfect and priceless for you.
And maybe quarantine isn’t necessarily a time you’re set on remembering with great fondness, and that’s fine, but what I encourage you to do is change your day, change your week, by doing something different. If you plan to make a family food video, you’ll be doing something that regardless of pandemics and online school - will last forever and mean something to your whole family today, and in the future.
The food videos I’ve made of my own family (Aunties, Grandparents, My mom and more) are without a doubt the best gifts I could ever give to my family - and not only that, they’re some of our most cherished possessions that are fire proof, weather proof and yes, pandemic proof. We cannot loose these memories, because we can watch the video over and over and over again.
So, I have a YouTube page with tips and tricks and I’ve got a free online course - but I want to hear from YOU about what you want from Memory Kitchen. What can I offer you that will help you make something remarkable?
Do you want more YouTube videos, more filming tips, editing tips - heck, would you want me to edit your footage FOR you?! What can I do that will enable you to have beautiful memories of your family’s soul perfectly frozen in time forever?
Your feedback and thoughts are hugely appreciated and I can’t wait to get to work helping you create a priceless time capsule for your family.
